GOP Debate: Watch and Learn…

by on Sep.16, 2015, under US Politics

Did you watch the first debate? I did. There was some moments of silliness, but I still learned more about the GOP candidates. Tonight’s debate should be even more revealing.

++ Debate night: GOP candidates battle for runner-up position

Not sure about that Fox News story title though. Despite poll numbers, I don’t think we have a sure winner, much less are we able to suggest a “runner-up” candidate. I don’t believe polls most of the time. They poll a thousand people or so, ask them (to me,) vague questions, and then can’t wait to promote the results.

I prefer to make my own decision based on what I see and hear, and also on the way the candidate presents him or herself. I like what Donald Trump is saying. I’m glad he’s keeping the subject of illegal alien crime in the spotlight, but I’m not impressed with how he handles the questions. Shooting from the hip is entertaining, but is not going to be good in global negotiations.

However, I don’t even hold that against him too much. Mr. Suave Obama talks a good talk, but his walk – SUCKS! He’s so busy trying to be cool, he never seems to realize how totally ineffective he has been as US President. So needless to say, I will be watching and listening tonight to make sure I make the best possible choice come election day.

Speaking of watching – and totally off-subject…

I had cataract surgery yesterday. I don’t know why I stayed so long living in a blurry world. Cost and a little apprehension might have been the reasons.

But today, less than 24 hours later, while I’m composing this post, I can see black letters on a white screen versus gray letters on a light gray background! I pulled up a web site this morning and it was SO BRIGHT and easy to read – why did I wait so long to get what ends up being a quick and pretty painless fix?

To anyone reading this blog – if you’re over the age of 45 or so and have blurry vision or, for anyone who knows already they have cataracts…PLEASE don’t put off getting them fixed. I was gone a total of about 90 minutes yesterday, have drops to put in 4 times a day, and am going to get the other eye done on the 29th of this month. It could not have been any easier and the rewards are instant and HUGE!!!

If anyone has any questions about the surgery, don’t hesitate to send me an email and I’ll be happy to share the scoop or answer any questions I can…
