“OTC” Remedies: Pumpkin Seeds

by on Jun.08, 2014, under Favorites

One of my sisters has sworn by these for years and I happened to find a good collection of info about the benefits of adding a few pumpkin seeds to your “treats” list:

Benefits of Pumpkin Seeds

That comment at the #1 position is important for those of us who are trying to reduce the amount of acid in our diet. You can only eliminate but so much of it – if you plan to eat at all – so the best defense is as usual, a strong offense. Add as much alkaline-type foods to your diet as you can. Pumpkin seeds, almonds, cucumbers – there’s something on the alkaline list for everyone!

Here’s a good graphic with more on what is alkaline and what is not.

Happy Sunday!

Blog “Renovations”

by on Jun.07, 2014, under Favorites

I am in the process of doing some renovations on this blog. Advertisers that were here that are no longer, posts I’ve had to remove since the advertisers either died (not literally) or for some unknown reason decided not to be represented here. Whatever…

They have wasted a LOT of my time and won’t be seen here again! Unfortunately, the little LinkWithin app that shows thumbnails to other/older posts beneath each new post, will apparently continue to reference a post I’ve just removed.

Hopefully, this will filter through fairly quick and you will not see any additional “page not found” or “the page you are looking for is not here” BS! Trust me, it was “here” but if I click on a product image and it is broken because the advertiser left without notice, I will remove the entire post as being no longer effective. Other times, advertisers update their product codes without providing notice – I do what I can when I see it…

Sorry for the confusion but it WILL make this blog cleaner and more effective – whatever the individual post’s message or purpose…

Don’t Forget The Belmont – Today!

by on Jun.07, 2014, under Favorites

No real estate news today – I am once again being attacked by my own sinuses and feeling less than “informative.”

Just a quick reminder to anyone who is interested that the Belmont Stakes will be run this afternoon with California Chrome having a shot at winning the Triple Crown.

It will be televised – coverage beginning today at 4:30 pm (Eastern) on NBC – and via online stream here.

++ Post time is 6:32 pm Eastern.

California Chrome would be the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978. Pretty exciting stuff if you ask me. I’m off to find my usual “OTC” remedies for clogged sinuses. Have a great weekend…

Remembering D-Day

D-Day 70th Anniversary

Can’t say it any better than Senator Scott did…I don’t think he’ll mind me sharing this image. I encourage people to pause for a moment today and remember the sacrifices made by so many on this day 70 years ago.

“OTC” Remedies: Slim Down Drink

Slim Down Drink Recipe

Well, I’m not sure how it tastes and I haven’t tried it, but it does LOOK rather refreshing. If it also helps break down fat, how bad could it be?

Hummingbird “Drive-In” for 2014

by on Jun.03, 2014, under Favorites, Images

I decided I wanted a good quality glass Hummingbird feeder this year so off I went to Lowe’s…

Hummingbird feeder

The liquid container was a little larger than I’d like and I was concerned with it being red glass, I might not be able to see how much food was left. But, as you can see, it just takes a glance to note the liquid level, and I never add more than half this total available capacity anyway. The liquid gets too hot and stale and Hummingbirds deserve a refreshed supply every day or two in the hottest months of summer.

About $17 at Lowe’s – and a LOT more sturdy than those cheaper plastic feeders that don’t age well in the sun and are hard to clean.

And yes, I already have quite a few “customers.”
