I noticed via a online Obama “out-of-office” clock that (as of today) the US has to survive another 698 days of Obama. Who knows what will happen after January 20, 2017 but I can only see one or two ways it can get much worse.

I’ve given up thinking about real estate for the time being because the country seems to be in such a state of upheaval under this president that I am not interested in real estate investing at the moment. My most recent thoughts regarding real estate have been to make sure I remember to leave the faucets dripping so none of my home’s plumbing freezes up overnight!

Lately, more time has been spent wondering what the heck is going on here. What am I referring to? Here are one or three items that have occurred recently that make no sense to me.

ILLEGAL ALIENS

Why is Obama making this push to “legalize” – illegally I might add, some 5 million illegal aliens? While he’s being paid to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, he seems to spend more time and effort on the “plight” of illegals. They aren’t “Dreamers” as he calls them because the people’s representatives voted DOWN the proposed “DREAM Act” at least twice. And you can’t call them immigrants either. “Immigrants” at least implies that someone followed standard and set US immigration laws. These people did not. They came here knowing they were illegal, ignored the laws, some brought their children. In effect, they gambled on their futures and that of their children. Somehow, WE, US taxpayers, are now supposed to guarantee them a win on that gamble.

DHS head Jeh Johnson whines that he needs more money – for what? You are not enforcing US immigration laws and not protecting our borders. Groping people at the airport is not all you are supposed to do!

NO! We have some 30-40 million US citizens who are either underemployed or unemployed. We have a constant budget deficit and we are now, as a country, over $18 TRILLION in debt. Which brings us to my next topic…

REFUGEES

Why is a country over $18 Trillion in debt, bringing in refugees from other countries at a ever increasing pace? This country has a LOT of homeless people – some freezing right now on street corners, some VETERANS, who have no life, no home, no job, and no hope. What about them? Why is it that DHS can come up with tens of millions for “unaccompanied minors” flooding our southern border last summer – seemingly with the stroke of a pen, but they ignore US Citizens in distress?

OBAMACARE

I’m having a hysterical giggle over this one. Hysterical because first, “I told you so” and second, because the program itself – which still doesn’t function properly, has already cost taxpayers some $2 billion. Yes, $2 billion tax dollars to build something that doesn’t function as advertised. And guess what else? That 10 or 11 million signups that Obama is so proud of? Many of them have not made their first “payment” and now some nearly one million of those also got bogus tax information which may impact their ability to even file their tax returns.

There are approximately 300 million people in this country that were ALL supposed to benefit from this Obamacare. Where are they? Even the less than 5% of those who have signed up right about now wish they hadn’t. And the rest of us? We’ll be waiting to see what our “penalty” will cost us because we didn’t want to sign up for something that is not secure, too expensive, and is as a result only BAD for our health! Even professional tax consultants can’t make sense of most of it…

And who is “enforcing” this Obamacare fine? The same IRS whining to Congress for more funding because they can’t seem to do their main job which is to suck every possible dime out of taxpayers as they usually do. Now Obama makes them the Obamacare police so the whining from them just got louder. Who will suffer – again? Taxpayers…

ISLAMIC TERRORISM

I don’t know why Obama won’t call it what it is – and I wouldn’t care if he was actually doing something to stop ISIS and its spread, but he’s not. He’d rather talk about the “whys” of what they are doing rather than deal with the resulting facts. His big summit in DC this past week should have happened and would have been more appropriate 18 months ago. Not now – now it seems like a joke and a waste of time. It reminds me of that old phrase: “Lead, follow, or get out of the way.” Option 3 seems about all that’s left for Obama and I’m not sure we, as a country, can last another 698 days until he does.

I’m sorry to have turned this blog so political lately, but there are too many things not right with the United States and I for one am not liking what I am seeing and hearing. Things going way wrong with this country are too fundamental to be ignored.
