What’s Your Temperature?

Hopefully, you yourself are running along at a nice baseline of 98.6 – plus or minus. What I really mean is what is your preferred air temperature for what you’d call a “perfect” day?
I’ve figured out, based on the 100 degree+ days in North Carolina of late, that my ideal outdoor temperature is right at 75 degrees. The older I get, the less tolerance I have for humidity as well so I’d prefer that to be under 40%. Oddly enough, I spent two years living in Jacksonville, Florida in my (much) younger days and I don’t remember being too bothered by the heat and humidity – of which there is plenty of both in Jax.
My sister has been living in Houston, Texas for over a decade now. I’m not so sure I would have survived the first year. But she seems to thrive in the warm environment.
My aging sinuses – which have never been great – are also prone to shifts in barometric pressure. Anyone who has this same affliction will know what I mean. Sometimes I will get a power headache on the bright and clear, and cooler sunny day – because it came right after a time of higher humidity and a storm – and drastically shifting pressure.
This morning at 0600 hours it was already 66 degrees – which at least beats the low of yesterday morning at 72. This does not bode well for my day – thank you to whomever devised air conditioning. I watched the History Channel’s “Gettysburg” last night. The battle days of July 1st – 4th 1863 were in the upper 80’s with high humidity – and no air conditioning. We’re all so spoiled….
…including my neighbor’s horse in the photo above. I felt so sorry for him on the hot days so I bought him a misting fan. This was his first experience. He could be found sleeping standing up by the thing a day later!
TGIF!
