Bug Season Approaching: Prepare Yourself – with Neem
by admin on Mar.07, 2013, under Favorites, Shop@RoseCottage
I checked the blog from last year and I was writing about tick, chigger, and bug repellants March 23, 2012. Starting earlier this year since – believe it or not – I found a small tick on me – this week!
So, no more long runs with my dog Cato, (he rarely “walks”) in the woods, unless I have at least my ankles coated with some Neem Outdoor Gel. I also need to check my supply to make sure I can have a chigger-free summer if at all possible. Anyone who has ever come into contact with these nasty little mites otherwise known as “Trombiculidae,” will tell you that it is a VERY unpleasant and incredibly itchy experience.
I also found that this Neem product – which is available in both a gel and a spray – does a darn good job of stopping at least the spread of poison ivy.
This will be my sixth year of using Neem – a product that became a necessity once I moved to my current rural location at the lake. My first summer here was made miserable by poison ivy and poison oak I had yet to recognize as such, and with all the clearing of long-ignored weedy areas with tall grass…the chiggers nearly did me in.
I have tried other products – some allegedly “New and Improved” and found most end up being a waste of money, they smell nasty, and make me feel either slimy or sticky – not what I want on a 90-degree day. The Neem lotion/gel products have a pleasant scent, a cooling effect, and soften and soothe the skin.
Cato will also benefit from Neem since he will be getting a little “splash” of Neem Botanical Spray on his legs and stomach from now on before we venture into the wild.
So don’t think about it this year. Click the product’s image, order some of the gel or spray or both and send your order off to Vicki at Neem Tree Farms – NOW! If you want more info on Neem, have a look around their web site for all the important info on these incredible products. You might even want to purchase a Neem tree of your very own!
