Took a snap of this moth to identify later, but also noticed how weird Styrofoam looks up close and personal…Yes, I am sometimes easily entertained! Especially on Fridays!
Once-per-year photo-op – Kingfisher

This darn bird is here zooming around the lake all the time – usually early morning or late afternoon/evening. Incredibly noisy, incredibly fast…I get about one chance per year to get a good photo.
Here is the 2011 paparazzi catch:

TGIF and stay cool this weekend!
TGIF…

There is only one remaining gosling from the four born on the lake May 19th, 2011. Rather than the family going away for six weeks or so as they usually do – and then just showing up again, they’ve stayed on or around the lake this time. I’m amazed at how fast this little thing is growing:

He (or she) is starting to look a little more goose-like:
Still a lot of hazards and hazardous prey that can befall a small animal – in the water and out. I’ll hope this one makes it…
Have a great weekend!
End of the weekend…

And some tired campers around the lake. Hot, hot weather this weekend – the lake looks like a “cool” way to spend a little time…
And there is always some extra time for that all-important weekend nap!

For everyone spending today outside versus inside….
Busy morning on the lake…

Lots of visitors to the lake yesterday morning – all stopping by for breakfast.
Having not been able to get a decent picture of the Kingfisher for several years, she has apparently decided to just deal with the papparazi and let her photo be taken!
A little later I noticed the lake’s Heron had also stopped by for a little early morning fishing. This is probably helped by the fact that the water level in the lake is so low right now. Fish will have to practice stealth mode in the rocks if they are to survive to swim another day.
That “eagle eye” doesn’t miss much!
A New Neighbor

Every once and awhile something new shows up in the pasture next door.
Sometimes it is a fox or a beaver. Sometimes 6 bulls become 12 cows. Sometimes deer meander through on their way to the 180 forested acres behind the pasture. Yesterday – another new arrival…
He (or she) is about the size of my dog CoCo right now which is around 70 pounds. I don’t think this will last long. These cows grow incredibly fast so I am enjoying the look of the “baby” while I can.
Add a little bit of black and I would have to think this calf is a Raiders fan!
