Remembering Our Loss

Twin Towers - Before

This could have been the scene on the sunny morning of September 11, 2001. Things were much different several hours later and after the initial death of over 3,000 people.

I can’t say that I feel a whole lot safer now than I did after the attack on our country in 2001. I have been to the site of the crash of Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania and it is a quiet and eerie place. It’s also a reminder of how many people were just going about their normal day when a focused and intended tragedy occurred. Who knows for sure where this plane was supposed to crash and to what effect. We will never know for sure how many other lives these passengers might have saved.

I have little confidence in the US President and even less in a Department of Homeland Security that has cost us billions and won’t even secure our own country’s border.

But I do have confidence in the citizens and military of the United States. Most days, that is enough.
