Flowering Bulbs

by on Mar.01, 2013, under Favorites, Images

I like planting flower bulbs in the fall or spring. They can put out some of the most amazing color displays and unlike seeds, they won’t get washed away a day after planting by some unexpected heavy rain. I often forget where I placed them which can also provide a nice surprise moment in the garden.

In my sister’s case, she’d planted bulbs two years ago and had figured they must have either been bad bulbs or, had missed something important they needed for blooming.

Until earlier this week:

This is just one variety of this amazing bulb. You can see other color options here.

I call moments like these a little “gift” back from my garden for all my hard work. It will be time to consider adding some additional mulch, weeds will begin to grow, and soon the grass will need mowing. I’ll take this little just-before-Spring break for contemplating what’s to come and just enjoy the view…

Happy Friday and Welcome March 2013…
