Another Dry Year at the Lake

Each year since about 2007 has brought concerns over the level of water in the lake. Each year there is rain, but it’s too little and happens too infrequently to do much good. What started as a 4-acre lake has not seen its “high point” since 2006.
The good news, (I’m always afraid to look!) is that it is not quite as bad this year as it was in late November 2011.

But this is still a sad state of affairs. I’ve had to unplug the fountain because it will damage the motor to run it in such shallow water.
So, despite the state estimates that North Carolina is not in a drought – I beg to differ from my little spot of Central NC. Without a snow-filled winter or weeks filled with rain, I’m not sure this lake will ever be what it was when I purchased the property in 2001.
