Kitchens 2011 – More than just the sink

by on Feb.07, 2011, under Favorites, Real Estate

I’m frequently amazed at professionally designed kitchens I see in magazines and online. In many homes, the kitchen has gone from a place of food and functionality to a showpiece. Sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent on cabinets and counter tops, restaurant-quality stoves and Sub-Zero refrigerators. I watched a House Hunters International not long ago where a prospective half-million dollar home was “dissed” because it didn’t have a specific wine-refrigerator.

Back to the real world – or at least the world of those of us who want to upgrade what we have – when and where it makes sense. Let’s start with the kitchen sink – or rather – the faucet.

If you want to make a change to and update/upgrade your kitchen, why not contemplate a new kitchen faucet? Products today can range from ultra-modern to country rustic without missing a beat. Here are a few suggestions in no particular order, that will make a design statement in your kitchen, for some can be a DIY upgrade, and won’t break the bank.

Elkay LK4101 Pewter Oldare Double Lever Brass Pot-Filler Faucet - LK4101

Here is a real country faucet if I ever saw one. I’d pick the brass finish for a real rustic appearance.

No more wedging large pots under a faucet or contemplating a hook up to a garden hose to fill large pots and steamers!
