Pet Care...It's Up to You.

Most people realize that having a pet is quite a responsibility. Our pets rely on us for everything relating to their care...from food and water, to nail trimming and other grooming, to socializing. Once we began domesticating animals we developed an implied "pact" with them that we would give them the attention they deserve and return the love they provide us.

Choosing the proper food for your particular pet can have more of a positive impact on their health than you might imagine. Pets are no different than people in this regard. I happen to be lactose-intolerant meaning milk and some dairy products are just not my friends.

My Siberian Husky, Nikki, who died of old age 8 years ago, could not manage any food that had a rice or noodle base. It was up to me to not only notice that this was a problem for her, but to make sure that she received the proper vitamins and minerals from the foods she could and did consume.

My other husky, Roc, had epileptic seizures from the time he was about 6 years old until he died at the age of 11. After doing research online, I moved him to a raw foods diet which did seem to help us control his seizures to some extent.

The Rose Cottage resident pet is a dog, so dogs...their food, care, and toys, will be the focus. This is not to be taken as disrespect for the feline world!

This little guy to the upper right, CoCo, is fortunately very healthy except for the occasional dry skin, itchy-scratchy. CoCo is a rescued dog and a very lucky boy.
