Review and Comparison - HD versus Non-HD
I was hesitant to purchase a new web camera since the one I had was working fine and fully integrated with YAWCAM. Sort of the "Don't mess with success" mindset. Then I saw the new Logitech HD C910.
Wow.
I bought the camera via Amazon just before Thanksgiving, 2010, now have it installed, and offer the images below for anyone who is also contemplating upgrading to HD quality.

Outside any minor position shifts during camera changeover and the 30-minutes or so to get a screen capture from the new camera, these are "like" shots.
You can see the clarity lacking from what always appeared to be a good image, until compared with the Logitech C910 HD capture.
Below are the important points about the new Logitech HD:
Full HD 1080p video recording, smooth HD 720p video calling with Logitech Fluid CrystalTM Technology.
1-click video uploading to Facebook and YouTube
Fluid HD 720p video calling with Logitech More HD Technology
5 MP HD sensor, precision Carl Zeiss lens, autofocus and intelligent auto light correction for crystal clear video and brilliant 10 MP photos
Dual built-in noise-cancelling mikes let friends hear you in rich, clear HD-quality stereo
Works with Logitech VidTM HD, SkypeTM, YahooŽ Messenger, Microsoft LiveTM Messenger
I also noted, while making sure that my web camera images were still properly integrated with Weather Underground, that they have some pretty tight limitations on file size.
The first few times I pulled up my weather page there, the block where the web cam image was supposed to be, was black. (Look under the "Current Conditions" block on this page and make sure "Webcam" versus "Radar" is selected.)
I had to back off file quality to about 80% of the camera's capabilities and also made a few minor "saturation" adjustments in order to have the image show on Weather Underground. If you set up a new camera, try massaging these settings first before you assume you've done something wrong - it will save you a lot of aggravation and time.
I had to make literally no changes to YAWCAM in order to get this new camera up and running. What a relief! I continue to be impressed with YAWCAM and although cameras may change, no use changing free software that works.
Hope you find this review helpful. This camera would be a great Christmas gift - for under $100. Link is provided to your left via Amazon.
